SYSTEM OF FORCES

FORCE
Force is an agent or cause which when applied on a body , it tends to move along a straight line at a uniform velocity.
Force is a vector quantity having both magnitude and direction.

UNITS
1.       M.K.S – Kilogram force (kgf)
2.       S.I – Newton
3.       C.G.S – Dyne
4.       F.P.S – Powndal

                            F=mf
                                                      ·           1 n = 1 kg x 1 m/s2
                                    ·         1 kgf = gn ( g = accedcaration due to gravity )
                                    = 9.81 n
                                    =9.81 kg – m/s2
          1.       1KN = 103 N
          2.       1MN = 106 N

FORCE SYSTEM

·         COPLANER FORCE SYSTEM
The forces whose line of action lies on the same plane , called coplanar force system or coplanar forces.

F1, F2, F3 are three co planar forces.
  ·    COLLINEAR FORCE SYSTEM

The forces whose line of action lies on the same line , called collinear force system.

F1, F2, F3 are the co-llinear force.
   ·    CONCURRENT FORCE SYSTEM
The force which meet at a point are known as concurrent force system.

F1, F2 ,F3, F4, F5 are concurrent force.
 ·     COPLANNAR COLLINEAR FORCE SYSTEM
The force system whose lines of action lies on the same plane and same line , called coplanar – collinear force system.

F1, F2 are two coplanar co-llinear force system.
  ·    NON COPLANNAR FORCE SYSTEM
The forces whose lines of action lies on different planes, called non-coplannar force system

F1, F2, F3 are three coplanar concurrent forces
·    NON COPLANNAR CONCURRENT FORCE SYSTEM
The forces which meet at a point but their lines of action lies on different planes , are known as non coplanar concurrent force system.

F1, F2, F3 are three non coplanar concurrent.
   ·    NON COPLANNAR NON CONCURRENT FORCE SYSTEM
The forces which do not meet a point and their lines of action do not lie on the same plane , are called non coplanar non con current force system.

   F1, F2, F3 are three non-coplannar non-concurrent force system.
